My Uncle Titan Sharp in Maiden Special Score at Camarero
Published: Wednesday, September 9, 2020

Bahamian Squall picked up his eighth winner of 2020 on Labor Day when My Uncle Titan scored a decisive victory in an $11,000 maiden special, his second start at Camarero Race Track in Puerto Rico. The 2-year-old colt bred by Maura R. Welsh and Cedar Gate Farm was a $10,000 purchase at the OBS March sale, and has almost won himself out in just two starts despite the low purse structure at Camarero.

In his first try on Aug. 14, My Uncle Titan came from more than five lengths back to finish a fast-closing second, falling 1 1/4 lengths short and earning a check for $2,200.

In his second effort under Joshua Navarro, racing 5 1/2 furlongs over a muddy track, he pressed the pace from the outset, took the lead into the stretch, then drew off to win by two lengths in 1:06.90. He paid just $2.60 as the heavy favorite, earned another $6,380 and raised his total to $8,580.

My Uncle Titan appears to be ready to be a major factor in the upcoming juvenile stakes in Puerto Rico.
