First Dude Fillies Have Won 7 of Last 8
Published: Friday, January 31, 2020

A pair of 4-year-old First Dude fillies who both relish racing at night have combined for seven victories in their last eight starts, giving their sire eight winners in January (tied for first place among Florida's stallions), and lifted him within $10,000 of surpassing the $200,000 mark in progeny earnings on the final day of the month.

At Turfway Park last evening, Rogue Too was a ton the best in a one-mile allowance optional claimer, marking her fourth victory in a row dating back to Oct. 22. With Rogelio Miranda aboard for the third straight race, the filly bred by Rowling Oaks Farm took the lead entering the backstretch, opened up by daylight and nobody ever got close; she coasted down the lane with announcer Jimmy McNerney bellowing, "Rogue Too has blown this race wide open." The final margin was 3 1/4 lengths and she collected a check for $12,000, boosting her career total to $117,245 on a record of 8-4-2 in 26 starts.

At Delta Downs, Southern Dudette won her second in a row and third in her last four tries, going wire-to-wire at 6 1/2 furlongs under Alexander Castillo and scoring by nearly five lengths. The filly bred by Destiny Oaks paid $17.40 and earned $10,800, lifting her total to $46,200.

First Dude has now had five winners in the last five days.
