Debbie's Passion: First Dude's Next Stakes Horse?
Published: Thursday, October 31, 2019

First Dude has unveiled what could be his next serious runner - Debbie's Passion - who made it two straight victories via a 7 3/4-length romp at Parx Racing.

The 3-year-old colt owned and bred by Raymond Mamone made his career debut at Tampa Bay Downs in March and never had a real chance after a four and five-wide trip the entire way. He came back in his second try and finished a solid fourth in the $115,000 OBS Sales Sophomore Stakes, beaten less than three lengths.

A layoff of six months proved to be the right medicine, with Debbie's Passion returning at Monmouth Park on Sept. 29 and breaking his maiden in style, getting six furlongs in a sharp 1:10.09. His fourth start was even more impressive at Parx, with Hector Diaz taking the colt off the pace, sending him after the leader on the turn, and Debbie's Passion doing the rest, drawing off under wraps clocked in 1:23.05 for the seven furlongs. If Diaz had let him run in the final sixteenth, the margin could have been 10 lengths and the time well under 1:23.

Debbie's Passion paid $5.20 and earned $27,600 for the victory, raising his total for four races to $59,800. He was awarded an excellent 107 'E' score by Equibase.
