Double Diamond-bred Flora Dora to Compete in Demoiselle (G2)
Published: Friday, November 27, 2015

South Ozone Park, NY --- Coffeepot Stables’ Flora Dora, a daughter of top freshman sire First Dude, is set to take on a field of six other two-year-old fillies in the $300,000 Demoiselle Stakes (G2) at Aqueduct, Saturday, November 27. Bred by Donald R. Dizney in Florida, the Marialice Coffey trainee is coming off a second-place finish in the Tempted Stakes (G3) at Aqueduct.

Flora Dora, named for a cocktail that was popular at the turn of the last century, drew the rail for the mile and one-eighth Demoiselle and will be ridden by Kendrick Carmouche. She is scheduled to be faced by Lewis Bay (Irad Ortiz, Jr.), Thrilled (John Velazquez), Mo d’Amour (Javier Castellano), Lost Raven (Manuel Franco), Invite (Junior Alvarado) and Disco Rose (Maria Remedio).

A bargain $87,000 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Yearling Sale purchase, Flora Dora has already banked $340,332 in her three-race career, most of that coming from her Florida Sunshine Millions My Dear Girl Stakes victory at Gulfstream Park in October. She is currently the leading earner of her sire First Dude, who has enjoyed tremendous success with his initial crop, making him among the top first-year sires in the nation. First Dude stands at Dizney’s Double Diamond Farm in Ocala, Florida.

The Demoiselle will be Aqueduct’s third race and has a post time of 12:50 PM ET.
