Early Christmas for Ragatagtag; She's Won 3 In a Row
Published: Sunday, December 1, 2019

Ragatagtag received an early Christmas gift from the Hawthorne stewards Friday when she finished second in an allowance optional claimer and was moved up to first by disqualification.

The 3-year-old daughter of First Dude was forced to steady when mugged by the eventual winner, Meeka, shortly after the break, but it was the type of foul that is often dismissed as "an incident at the gate." However, Ragatagtag dropped back to sixth and last in the six-furlong race, and when she later made up about five lengths in the stretch only to fall one length short at the wire, the stewards no doubt decided that without the early incident, she would have raced closer to the pace and been able to get up in time.

After finishing second three times in a row at Arlington Park, Ragatagtag, who didn't race at two, has now won three in a row at Hawthorne in a span of just 16 days. This season, she's 4-3-2 in 13 starts with earnings of $82,415.
