First Dude boosted his lead in the Florida sire's winners' race when El Duque broke his maiden in a one-mile race last evening at Mountaineer Casino and Resort. The 3-year-old gelding became winner No. 58 of 2020 for his sire, eight ahead of second-place Brethren.
The oddly-named Marco Ccamaque was aboard El Duque, who came from behind with a powerful move on the final turn and was up by half a length at the wire to gain his first victory. Donald Dizney is the breeder of the gelding, who moved First Dude within less than $51,000 of the $2 million mark for the year.
