First Dude Filly Runs Away to Third Straight Stakes victory
Published: Monday, September 2, 2019

For the first time this year, First Dude has taken a substantial lead on Florida's general sire list, due to another runaway performance by Minnesota-bred Ready to Runaway. The 3-year-old filly bred by Wildcat Ranch ran away and hid in the $100,000 Glitter Star Minnesota Distaff Classic Championship Stakes at Canterbury Park, coasting to wire by daylight under Jereth Loveberry.

On June 22, Ready to Runaway was taken by John Mentz out of a $25,000 claiming race that she won by 7 1/4 lengths. In her new barn, she has won three consecutive stakes, the Frances A. Genter by 4 1/4, the Minnesota Oaks by 4, and her latest by 7 1/4. She's won four in a row by a combined total of 22 3/4 lengths, is 5-2-0 in seven starts lifetime, and the $60,000 check for yesterday's victory increased her total to $187,550.

First Dude's earnings for the year soared to $2,525,515, nearly $84,000 ahead of second-place Adios Charlie and his biggest margin of the year.
