First Dude Has Banner Weekend
Published: Tuesday, October 4, 2016

Double Diamond Farm’s sensational sire, First Dude, had a spectacular weekend, siring three winners, including Saturday’s $500,000 My Dear Girl Stakes winner Dude Fantasy. He has now moved into top-three status on the North American second-crop sire list.

A two-year-old filly, bred and owned by Donald Dizney, Dude Fantasy ran gamely through the Gulfstream Park stretch, under jockey Tyler Gaffalione, to post the Florida-bred stakes victory over Surprise Wedding and Fleet Dude. The latter, is also by First Dude, and sported the Dizney red, white and blue colors. Trained by Ralph Nicks, Dude Fantasy earned $300,000 for her victory in the mile and one-sixteenth event, while Fleet Dude, trained by Brad Cox, picked up $55,000. It is the second year in-a-row that First Dude has sired the winner of the My Dear Girl Stakes.

Also Saturday, two-year-old filly Devilish Romance got some nice black type in the $75,000 Our Dear Peggy Stakes at Gulfstream, beaten just a half-length by Silver Diva, running a mile on the turf.  Not limited to Florida success, First Dude-sired Foxy Gator also posted an 8 ¼-length score in a one-mile event at Penn National for trainer Heath Hammond.

Sunday, another First Dude, First Heritage, graced the Churchill Downs winners’ circle after a 3 1/2-length victory for trainer Chris Hartman.

First Dude’s progeny have earned $2,466,250 so far in 2016 and a total of $3,463,398 since his initial starter in June of 2015. He is currently the leading second-crop sire in Florida, ahead of Gone Astray and Big Drama. He is the third-leading second-crop sire in North America, behind notable stallions Uncle Mo and Twirling Candy and ahead of many other successful stallions including Trappe Shot, Gio Ponti and Giralamo.
