First Dude Inches Closer to $14 Million
Published: Thursday, May 30, 2019

First Dude's climb toward $14 million in career progeny earnings continued unabated Wednesday on a day when he had just two runners in action, and they produced an easy victory and an unbelievable second.

Proving that every victory counts, Alex the Dude scored for the third time in his last four starts when five scratches due to a sloppy track at Mountaineer limited the field to three starters and moved the race from the turf to the main track. The 6-year-old gelding bred by Double Diamond Farm won it by 3 1/4 lengths and raised his earnings to $125,913 on a record of 12-6-4 in 47 starts.

At Delaware Park, Do With Pride went to the post at odds of $108.20-1 in just his third career start on the grass, and showed remarkable grit down the stretch to get up for second after he had been passed by several rivals at the top of the stretch. He paid $69.40 to place and $28 to show.

First Dude is now less than $22,000 away from reaching his latest goal.
