First Dude didn't have a winner yesterday, but as expected, two seconds and a third were enough to propel him past the $1 million mark in 2020 progeny earnings for the fifth straight year. The mammoth cut in races and racing days around the country caused by the virus has resulted in the lowering of statistics in all categories, on all national lists.
A second by Baby Ice at Gulfstream Park was worth $3,960 and a runner-up finish by Osvaldo at Belterra Park added another $1,500. M. J.'s Lady's third-place finish at Laurel Park added $2,970. First Dude also had a fourth and a fifth, and his earnings for the day reached $9,960, which increased the total to $1,003,290. That's second only to Khozan among Florida's sires. First Dude's 36 winners leads the league in that category.
