First Dude Will Hit $14 Million on Saturday
Published: Friday, May 31, 2019

Keyed by a maiden-breaking victory by Starship Apollo at Gulfstream Park yesterday, First Dude heads into the weekend less than $5,000 away from the $14 million mark in career progeny earnings. That milestone will be reached on Saturday when the son of Stephen Got Even has eight runners of various denominations competing at five tracks.

With red-hot Edgard Zayas riding, Starship Apollo scored his second victory of 2019, drawing off by three lengths in mid-stretch and coasting to the wire 1 1/2 lengths in front. The 6-year-old gelding bred by Leverett and Linda Miller was caught in a sizzling 1:22.92 for the seven furlongs and raised his earnings to $157,205 on a record of 11-4-5 in 40 starts, while First Dude's earnings jumped to $13,995,981.
