Florida Breeder Gets First Dude Winners at Gulfstream and Delta Downs
Published: Friday, January 29, 2021

Thoroughbred racing is a sport revolving around the odds board, and what are the odds that one breeder could have two winners by the same sire two hours apart at tracks in different states. That's just what happened yesterday with long-time Ocala breeder Lynne Boutte, who had This Dudes No Fool win at Gulfstream Park and Debonnaire Dude score at Delta Downs.

This Dudes No Fool is a 3-year-old colt by First Dude bred by Boutte in partnership with Linda Schroetlin. The $60,000 OBS April 2-year-old left the gate at 1:07 in a 6-furlong race at Gulfstream, only 15 days after having finished third in his previous start. With Edgard Zayas aboard, This Dudes No Fool sat a perfect second down the backstretch while stalking favored Converter through fractions of :23.11 and :46.60. He went after the 7/5 shot on the turn and took the lead in upper stretch, then drew off to win by 2 1/4 lengths, clocked in 1:11.88.

This Dudes No Fool paid $5.40 as he became the fifth January winner for First Dude, collecting $17,800 while raising his record to 1-2-1 in 5 starts. And, he was claimed out of the race for $25,000.

Debonnaire Dude was bred by Boutte and her husband Chris and was a $12,500 OBS June 2-year-old. The 4-year-old gelding left the gate at 3:20 under Tim Thornton looking for his second victory in a row and led every step of the way at 6 1/2 furlongs, scoring by nearly three lengths.

After not hitting the board in his first four starts, Debonnaire Dude is 3-2-1 in the last six and is First Dude's first repeat winner this month. For yesterday's victory he paid $12 and earned a check for $7,200 as First Dude's progeny earnings jumped to $156,607, moving him up three spots into third on Florida's general sire list.
