Good Day for Sanchez and First Dude at Delaware Park
Published: Tuesday, October 15, 2019

Royalty For Life has become the queen of Delaware Park after the 4-year-old filly won her fourth straight race yesterday, and her fifth in her last six starts. The daughter of First Dude raised her career record to 7-1-1 in 14 tries, while her 2019 record soared to 5-0-0 in seven tries.

The filly bred by Robert A. Raymond captured her final test by three lengths at Tampa Bay Downs in February. She then shipped to Delaware where she didn't make her next start for five months, but since has scored by 1 1/4 lengths, 5 1/2 lengths, 2 lengths and yesterday by 2 1/2 lengths, a combined total of 14 1/4. She paid $3.20 in her latest effort after a come-from-behind victory at six furlongs under Mychel Sanchez which was worth $15,600, and ballooned her earnings to $119,810.

Seven races later, Sanchez and First Dude teamed up again with Lay It On the Line, a 3-year-old gelding bred by Beth Bayer who didn't race at two and went wire-to-wire to break his maiden in his sixth start of this year. He earned a check for $10,800 as he became the 66th winner for his sire in 2019. The two paychecks raised First Dude's seasonal earnings to $2,807,612.
