Handicappers Missed the Boat on Rogue Too
Published: Thursday, December 12, 2019

There were several reasons why sharp handicappers could easily have landed on Rogue Too in a mile and one-sixteenth race at Turfway Park last night.

One, the 3-year-old daughter of First Dude had just won her last at Indiana Downs by 1 1/4 lengths in the same type of company. Two, she proved she loved Turfway by virtue of a three-race winning streak over the all-weather track earlier in the season. Three, the margins in those three victories were 12 3/4 lengths, 10 1/2 lengths and 6 3/4 lengths.

So, it was quite surprising to see Rogue Too sitting at 45-1 on the tote board as the field left the gate. Rogelio Miranda shot her right to the lead, slowed the pace down to :24.42, :48.78 and 1:13.92, and the filly never looked back, winning by 1 1/4 lengths in 1:47.63 and paying an astronomical $93.40. She raised her record to 6-4-2 in 24 starts and the $11,400 winner's check boosted her earnings to $93,245.
