Home-bred Sire First Dude Supplies Dizney with Victory 700
Published: Monday, December 7, 2015

Los Alamitos, California (December 5, 2015)--- When two-year-old filly Skye Diamonds broke her maiden Saturday at Los Alamitos Racecourse, she became the 700th winner for owner Donald R. Dizney. It was particularly fitting that the pretty chestnut was sired by another Dizney homebred, the sensational First Dude.

Making only her second career start, Skye Diamonds rated off the pace and finished strongly in the stretch to take the Cal-bred maiden special weight race by 1 ¼ lengths, stopping the clock in 1:03.73 for the five and one-half furlongs on the fast main track.

“She’s always acted like a nice filly,” said trainer Mike Machowsky. “She is very athletic and has a quick turn of foot. I was afraid she might not be fit enough to win Saturday, but I was hoping her class would get her home and it did.”

First Dude currently stands third on the freshmen sire list, with 16 winners and nearly a million dollars in earnings.

“I really love that stallion,” Machowsky said. I bought one in Ocala that I think could be any kind. She’s a real big filly, so I have taken some extra time with her.”

With a second-place finish in her debut and her maiden-breaking victory Saturday, Skye Diamonds has now banked $38,200 in her two-race career.
