They're running out of adjectives to pin on Ready to Runaway, the 4-year-old First Dude filly who blew away the field again last evening in the $100,000 Bella Notte Minnesota Distaff Sprint Stakes at Canterbury Park.
It was the Minnesota-bred's third victory in a row and raised her perfect in-the-money record to a "remarkable" 9-4-3 in 16 starts. The $60,000 winner's check boosted her earnings to $359,980, moving her into seventh place in that department among her sire's top runners.
Ready to Runaway has now competed in seven stakes at Canterbury and has recorded six victories and a second. Three of the victories have come at six furlongs, one at a mile and 70 yards and two at a mile and one-sixteenth. The runner-up finish came at 7 1/2 furlongs on the turf.
The filly's latest score was negotiated at six furlongs over a sloppy track, and Roimes Chirinos settled her in fourth early. She went four wide on the turn to take the lead and coasted to the finish line 4 1/4 lengths in front. She paid $2.20.
At Belterra Park, another "remarkable" First Dude runner, Osvaldo, became his sire's 48th winner of the season with a rail-skimming head victory under Joseph Ramos. The 6-year-old gelding has made 60 lifetime starts - this was his 16th of 2020 - and it's only September. Osvaldo earned $4,500 for his victory at a mile and 70 yards, and paid $16.
First Dude has moved back into second place in his battle with Brethren on Florida's sire list with progeny earnings of $1,645,602.
