Profitable Afternoon for First Dude; He Passes $1.5 Million
Published: Monday, June 17, 2019

There were just three First Dudes competing around the country on Sunday and they combined to raise the stallion's progeny earnings for 2019 to $1,522,150, posting two victories and a third.

At Arlington Park, What's Up Dude became First Dude's latest $200,000-plus earner ($203,919) with a 1 1/2-length victory racing six furlongs under Jose Lopez. The 5-year-old gelding bred in Illinois by Larry Rivelli and Richard Ravin raced just off the pace before taking over in the stretch and reaching the wire in a sharp 1:09.68. Sent off at even money, What's Up Dude collected $26,880 after winning his second in a row, and sports a record of 6-5-2 in 23 tries.

Williston Dude also made it two straight after a hard-fought stretch battle racing a flat mile at Canterbury Park. The 6-year-old gelding pressed the early pace before taking command near the quarter pole and holding off Star in Charge by a neck. He earned $7,500 for his fifth victory and raised his career total to $72,024.
