In his last start at Gulfstream Park, Purecrazidude broke his maiden with a virtually wire-to-wire performance, winning by 6 1/4 lengths, racing a flat mile in 1:39.14, and posting the best Equibase 'E' figure of his first 11 races - 74. Yesterday, the 3-year-old gelding upped that effort, winning his second straight and lifting First Dude over the $1.5 million mark in 2020 progeny earnings.
The race took on a different look at the outset, with track announcer Pete Aiello bellowing that Purecrazidude had stumbled leaving the gate. Samy Camacho still was able to get him off sixth in the eight-horse field. The gelding owned and bred by Bella Inizio Farm sat patiently until Camacho let him roll coming to the turn amid Aiello's call, "Here's a blitz by Purecrazidude," which propelled him into the lead heading for home. He won by 1 3/4 lengths, and his time of 1:37.72 led to a personal best 'E' figure of 82. Despite his previous victory, he paid $29.60 while earning a check for $15,400, which increased his earnings to $46,242 and First Dude's to $1,514,675.
