Super Dude has been lightly raced since his 3-year-old campaign, but when he has competed, the results have been impressive. The 5-year-old stakes-placed gelding raised his record to 3-2-2 in seven starts yesterday at Laurel Park, the same track where he had broken his maiden in 2017.
With Sheldon Russell aboard, Super Dude was away in third place in the mile and one-sixteenth allowance optional claimer with a purse of $54,585. Russell moved him up to second on the outside coming to the final turn, then Super Dude gamely turned back Tattooed by a neck after a stretch-long battle. The victory was worth $25,650 and boosted Super Dude's career total to $107,590. He became his sire's 15th winner of 2019, and First Dude's progeny earnings increased to $516,246.
