Three In a Row for Much About It; First Dude Nearing $16 Million
Published: Sunday, November 10, 2019

Much About It didn't get to the races until late in her 3-year-old year in 2018, and she didn't show much in two races before turning four. But the First Dude filly has made a major turnaround this season and after her victory at Gulfstream West yesterday, her record jumped to 4-2-0 in seven starts since Jan. 1 for owner Frank Calabrese.

It was the third straight victory (Tampa Bay Downs, Gulfstream Park, Gulfstream West) for the filly bred by Steve Tucker, and the $12,800 winner's check raised her earnings for the season to $54,830. With Paco Lopez riding, Much About It tracked the pace on the inside in the 7 1/2-furlong race on the grass, moved to the two path turning for home, and was best in the stretch, winning by a length as the 7/5 favorite. She earned an Equibase 'E' rating of 89 - highest of her nine career races.

First Dude, Florida's second-leading sire in 2019, is less than $86,000 away from reaching the $16 million mark in career progeny earnings.
