Three More Winners for First Dude
Published: Thursday, June 6, 2019

First Dude's incredible success for the past month continued unabated over the last two days as the son of Stephen Got Even picked up three more winners, including one 5-year-old who had not raced in more than a year.

At Gulfstream Park yesterday, Jairo Rendon guided Marcelino to a game victory over the turf course, battling head-and-head for the lead for the entire five furlongs and holding off favored Honolulu Express by a neck in :55.59. The 3-year-old gelding earned $13,200 for the victory.

Buddy's Babe scored her second victory in a span of two weeks at Mountaineer in a $20,200 allowance race originally scheduled for the grass and moved to one mile on the main track. The 3-year-old filly cut the corner on the turn for home and went on to prevail by a head under Eddie Jurado. She paid $9.80, earned a check for $11,716 and raised her record to 2-3-1 in 10 starts.

At Louisiana Downs, Diamond Delight was successful in his first start since May 8 of 2018, negotiating a mile and 70 yards on the lead over a sloppy track in another race that was switched from the grass. The 5-year-old gelding won by 3 1/4 lengths and is 3-4-0 in 10 starts.

First Dude now has 44 winners who have won 55 races this year.
