Two First Dude Veterans Score in Delaware
Published: Tuesday, September 24, 2019

With all the country's major tracks dark on Monday, First Dude enjoyed a solid day at Delaware Park - two runners, two winners.

In the third race, at a mile and 70 yards, Super Dude was battling between two rivals as the field straightened out for home and both appeared to have his number. But, with the track announcer bellowing "a resurgent Super Dude," Trevor McCarthy was able to guide the 5-year-old gelding to the wire for a three-quarters of a length victory in an excellent time of 1:40.44. He paid $4.60 and collected a check for $24,000.

Super Dude didn't race at two, and made just five starts in all of 2017/2018, posting a record of 2-1-2 with earnings of $72,000. He's been "resurgent" throughout this year, with a record o 3-2-0 in eight starts and earning an additional $110,240, for a career total of $182,730.

Five races later, Royalty For Life completed the Dude double by winning her third race in a row - by two lengths - and fourth in her last five for breeder/trainer Robert A. Raymond. The four victories - the first at Tampa Bay Downs and the last three at Delaware - have come by a combined total of  11 3/4 lengths. The 4-year-old filly paid $3.60 and added $11,400 to her bank account. Royalty For Life's record is now 6-1-1 in 13 starts and her earnings jumped to $104,210.
