Two More Victories for First Dude; 11 in 23 Days
Published: Sunday, April 21, 2019

I'm an Ocala Dude scored a game nose victory at Aqueduct yesterday, and J's Flashy Halo made it two in a row at Tampa Bay Downs, giving First Dude 11 winners in a span of 23 days.

With Manny Franco riding, I'm an Ocala Dude tracked the pace in fourth place, made a 6-wide move into the stretch, then ran down the leaders to prevail in a three-horse photo. The 4-year-old gelding was clocked in 1:11.87 for the six furlongs over a sloppy track and paid $5.30. Owned by his trainer, Michelle Nevin, in partnership with Ocala horseman Tom McCrocklin, I'm an Ocala Dude raised his earnings to $142,644 on a record of 4-2-1 in 13 starts.

J's Flashy Halo helped debunk the infamous"bounce" theory by winning his second race in a row in a 10-day period. On April 10, the 4-year-old gelding romped at Tampa by 8 1/4 lengths under Ronnie Allen Jr. with six furlongs in 1:12.05. Yesterday, he chased the pace while in the two path, came through on the rail in upper stretch, and went on to win by one-half length, this time in 1:11.87. In a span of 41 days, J's Flashy Halo has posted two victories, a second and a third, getting eight checks (including four breeder's awards) for owner/breeder Janis Maitlen.
