First Dude added his 27th winner of 2020 yesterday when Worth Avenue scored her fifth career victory in a six-furlong race at Gulfstream Park. The 6-year-old mare increased her career earnings to $165,153, while First Dude's lifetime progeny earnings soared to $17,014,454. easily best among active Florida stallions.
Edgard Zayas was aboard Worth Avenue and contributed a heads-up ride. He settled her in fourth place down the backstretch following a :22.79 first quarter, moved to the leaders on the turn, took the lead at the eighth pole and held off fast-closing Nowitna River at the wire. Even at the ripe old age of six, she was claimed out of the race.
With his 27 winners, First Dude leads the Florida runner-up by six, and he's the only sire with as many as six repeat winners.
