The Old Boys Still Running Well for First Dude
Published: Sunday, August 30, 2020

First Dude had 73 runners from his first crop compete in 2015 and 79 from his second crop a year later. It's surprising how many of those runners are not only still around, they're still winning.

One of them is He's One Wild Dude, a 7-year-old gelding bred by Wheelock Whitney, one-time owner of the Minnesota Vikings. With Horacio Karamanos aboard, He's One Wild Dude won a 5 1/2-furlong starter optional claimer on the grass at Laurel Park yesterday and raised his career record to 8-5-8 in 38 starts. Karamanos assumed a good stalking position on the rail down the backstretch, and when he said 'go' on the turn, He's One Wild Dude put it in another gear. Although forced five wide, he had no challenges as he cruised to a 2 1/4-length victory in 1:05.29 over a yielding course.

He's One Wild Dude became his sire's 47th winner of the year to regain a one-up edge in that department from leading sire Khozan. He earned $17,100, bringing his career total to $182,976, and moving First Dude up to $1,497,505 for the year.
