Another Stakes 3rd for Cairenn, First Dude Moves Up to Second
Published: Tuesday, February 18, 2020

Cairenn continued her climb toward the $400,000 mark in lifetime earnings with a third-place finish yesterday in the $200,000, Gr. III Bayakoa Stakes at Oaklawn Park. After collecting a check of $20,000 for owner William Simon, the 6-year-old daughter of First Dude now sports a record of 5-6-9 in 24 starts with earnings of $372,910. She's the sixth-leading earner for her sire, $33,715 behind Sticksstatelydude.

Simon purchased Cairenn for $180,000 at Keeneland November, and she's finished third for him in three straight stakes, the last two at Oaklawn.

In the Bayakoa, Cairenn sat fifth in the early going with John Velazquez and made a good run through the stretch, but was no match for the top two. She was responsible for moving First Dude up several spots into second place on the Florida General Sire list with earnings of $347,136, just $37,800 out of first.
