First Dude 3-Year-Old Is One Speedy Dudette
Published: Thursday, May 6, 2021

This is how the Louisiana Downs track announcer described the action nearing the wire as Speedy Dudette was widening her lead in the second race at Louisiana Downs yesterday: "Speedy Dudette is all by herself - winning by 15 lengths." Turns out he was pretty close - the final margin was a little more than 16 lengths, as the daughter of First Dude cemented her first victory in five starts.

Carlos Lozada was aboard the 3-year-old Louisiana-bred filly, who broke well from the No. 7 post and settled into third place in the two path. She stalked the pace-setter through fractions of :23.01 and :46.28, went up to tackle the leader on the turn and it quickly became no contest

After prepping for her maiden-breaker with a second and two thirds in her previous three starts at Fair Grounds, Speedy Dudette was bet down to 1/2 on the tote board and paid $3. She was clocked in 1:11.30 for the six furlongs, and the winner's share in the $22,000 maiden special came to $13,200, raising her total to $35,200.
