First Dude Adds to 2020 Totals on Sparse Racing Day
Published: Sunday, March 29, 2020

On a Saturday of sparse racing around the country, First Dude had three runners competing at Tampa Bay Downs, Oaklawn Park and Los Alamitos. The trio accounted for a first, second and third, serving to achieve three objectives: (a) adding to First Dude's lead on Florida's general sire list, (b) giving him a runner with three victories in 2020, and (c) adding another runner to his $200,000-plus progeny earnings list.

First Dude's winner was Caracortada, who won for the second time in her last three starts at Los Alamitos. The 6-year-old mare was off a step slow racing 4 1/2 furlongs, but she slipped through along the inside en route to a quarter in :22.09, then continued on in front to the wire, winning by five widening lengths in :51.50. She became First Dude's third repeat winner.

At Oaklawn, Minnesota-bred Ready to Runaway finished second in a 6-furlong race that went in 1:09.49, raising her record to an impressive 5-3-2 in 10 starts. The $7,200 check boosted her career total to $205,230, and she became First Dude's 16th entrant into the $200,000 club.

Chica Difisel finished third at Gulfstream, earned $1,000, and helped First Dude lift his progeny earnings to $661,738 and a lead of more than $15,000.
