First Dude Colt Wins at Monmouth, Nears $100,000
Published: Monday, July 20, 2020

Another First Dude has returned from a racing vacation and became the stallion's Florida-leading 38th winner of 2020 yesterday. Debbie's Passion, a 4-year-old colt, won a $50,875 allowance optional claimer at Monmouth Park and closed in on the $100,000 mark in earnings.

Off last in a six-horse field after a 4 1/2-month layoff, Hector Diaz Jr. had Debbie's Passion up close in the two path down the backstretch and sent him after the leaders with a wide run on the turn. The colt owned and bred by Raymond Mamone was already in front when they straightened out at the top of the stretch, and he held it to the wire, scoring by three-quarters of a length over fast-closing long shot Chargin Storm.

Debbie's Passion was clocked in 1:10.53 and paid $7.40 while winning for the third time in seven starts. The $31,500 winner's check increased his earnings to $96,550.
