First Dude Moving Up After Two Sharp Gulfstream Scores
Published: Monday, March 22, 2021

After getting off to a slow start in 2021, First Dude continues to swiftly move up the Florida sire list in several statistical categories after the victories of C'mon Karen and Purecrazidude at Gulfstream Park yesterday.

The two eye-catching scores (1) gave First Dude seven winners in the last 12 days, (2) moved him up to third on the sire list with progeny  earnings of $432,370, and (3) raised his number of winners for the year to 19, just four behind leader Khozan, closing a gap of 10 from just a few weeks ago.

In her career debut, at odds of 15-1, C'mon Karen was off last going 5 1/2 furlongs with Rajiv Maragh riding. After relaxing behind a :22.65 quarter, she made a strong four-wide move on the turn, drove past the leaders, and won by half a length in 1:05.48. The 3-year-old filly bred by Steve Tucker paid $32.80 and earned a check for $19,200.

Purecrazidude followed the early pace comfortably in fourth while in the two path racing a flat mile with Angel Arroyo. The 4-year-old gelding owned and bred by Bella Inizio Farm made a huge run up to second on the turn, took the lead entering the stretch, and proved easily best, winning by three lengths and paying $8.20.

Purecrazidude has finished in the top four in his last seven tries, and raised his career record to 3-3-5 in 20 starts overall. He collected $11,600, increasing his total to $66,752.
