Five in a Row for Rogue Too; Starship Apollo Wins No. 14
Published: Sunday, February 16, 2020

First Dude had two significant winners on Saturday, Rogue Too running her current winning streak to five at Turfway Park and Starship Apollo keeping her sire on top of the Florida sire list by giving him his 12th winner of 2020 at Gulfstream Park.

Rogue Too has been on fire since November for owner Andrew Janszen, who claimed her for a mere $10,000 as a 3-year-old on July 12 of last year at Indiana Grand Race Course. After she finished third, fourth, sixth and 10th for her new owner, the Florida-bred filly bred by Rowling Oaks Farm won at Indiana, and has now taken four straight at Turfway under Rogelio Miranda.

Rogue Too cruised to the front out of the gate yesterday in the $30,145 allowance race and she continued on in front for the entire mile. She coasted to the wire four lengths in front clocked in 1:38.88, paying $8.20 and collecting a check for $12,600. She now sports a record of 9-4-2 in 27 starts with earnings of $129,845.

Starship Apollo raised his record to 14-7-6 in 50 starts and is the leading race-winner for First Dude. The 7-year-old gelding from his sire's first crop has earned $224,615, and in his last nine starts he's 3-3-1-2. Yesterday, Jose Ortiz sat a perfect stalking trip down the backstretch, moved Starship Apollo on the turn, and they out-gamed 7/5 favorite Rayswarrior to the wire by 1 1/2 lengths.

Bred by former FTBOA president Leverett Miller and his wife, Linda, the gelding has never competed anywhere but Gulfstream Park and Gulfstream West, so his in-the-money finishes have served to earn the Millers 27 breeder's awards.
