Age Hasn't Slowed Down Klingon Warrior
Published: Tuesday, January 28, 2020

On a day when there were few tracks in operation around the country, First Dude's lone runner in the entries became his fifth January winner, scoring an authoritative victory in a six-furlong test at Parx Racing.

Klingon Warrior, a 7-year-old gelding from First Dude's first crop, raised his earnings to $98,500 on a light record of 4-2-1 in 14 starts, battling for the lead between horses for much of the trip under Kendrick Carmouche, then drawing off easily to score by nearly four lengths. He was clocked in 1:11.26 after putting up quick fractions of :22.95, :46.32 and :58.57, and collected a check for $14,400.

Klingon Warrior broke his maiden by 5 1/2 lengths in his 2-year-old debut at Parx in July of 2015, becoming First Dude's second winner in his initial crop, and was obviously beset by problems thereafter. He raced just four more times at two, three and four, returning to action for his present cycle on Dec. 18 of 2018. This was his ninth start in that cycle.
