Mother of Dragons Captures $55,150 California Governor's Handicap
Published: Sunday, July 19, 2020

First Dude added another black-type victory to his ledger at Pleasanton race track in California last evening when Mother of Dragons captured the $55,150 California Governor's Handicap in a three-horse photo.

The mare from First Dude's second crop, still going strong at age six, is now a two-time black-type winner and she raised her record to 6-1-3 in 12 starts. The $32,000 winner's check lifted her career total to $153,495. A $3,000 OBS Winter yearling bred by Classic Oaks Farm, she has won two in a row, and achieved this one by earning an Equibase 'E' rating of 103.

With Julien Couton aboard, 2-1 favorite Mother of Dragons, racing well off the rail, engaged in a three-horse battle up front with Biddy Duke and Princes Vivian, both 5/2, passing the furlong markers in :21.91, 44.68 and :57.55. Mother of Dragons won the battle with a nose victory in 1:10.57 and paid $6.20.
