Ohtani Wins Second Straight Via Unreal Move
Published: Wednesday, September 2, 2020

If there was a section in the Guinness Book of World Records pertaining to 'quickest move from last to first,' Ohtani might have set a record yesterday at Assiniboia Downs.

In the second race, at 5 1/2 furlongs, the 4-year-old First Dude gelding was sitting fifth coming to the turn, three lengths behind, when Wilmer Galviz hit the gas pedal and sent him five wide. In the time it took to count from one to four, Ohtani had looped the field and was in front and drawing off as they straightened out in the stretch. Without the need of urging, Ohtani won by three lengths, nailing down his second victory in the span of 15 days.

Ohtani, bred by Donald Dizney, raised his record to 5-1-5 in 26 starts and his earnings to $50,999 despite the smaller purses in Canada along with the unfavorable exchange rate.
