Quana Dude Breaks Maiden With Huge Mud Mark
Published: Monday, April 6, 2020

After Quana Dude's eye-opening performance over a muddy track at Oaklawn Park yesterday, trainer Tom Amoss may begin checking weather reports while searching for the next race for the First Dude gelding.

Quana Dude made two unsuccessful fast-track efforts at Fair Grounds before being united with rider David Cohen for the one-mile race in Hot Springs. Cohen sat chilly on the rail down the backstretch with the 3-year-old owned and bred by Don Dizney, and when he let Quana Dude loose, the gelding made a monster run on the turn and into the stretch. It was no strictly contest down the lane, with Quana Dude winning by nearly six lengths under wraps. He paid $8.60, earned a check for $10,800, and became First Dude's 25th winner of the year, easily best among all Florida stallions.
