Super Dude Jumps Up to No. 9 on First Dude's Money List
Published: Saturday, November 14, 2020

Super Dude lived up to his name yesterday in a one-mile race over a sloppy track at Aqueduct that was originally scheduled for the grass. The 6-year-old First Dude gelding engaged in a lively battle the entire trip with Creative Style, finally edging the 6/5 favorite at the wire by a nose and paying $6.40.

Super Dude was sent right to the lead by Irad Ortiz Jr., and they had to hold off Creative Cause and Javier Castellano from start to finish. The distance between them for the entire mile was never more than one length, and most of the time it was less.

Super Dude raised his record to 8-4-4 in 26 starts, and the $27,500 winner's check boosted his earnings to $330,755, moving him up one spot into ninth place among First Dude's runners. He's earned $133,900 this year alone. And, both Super Dude and Creative Cause were claimed out of the race for $25,000.

Earlier in the week, Dance Elvis Dance became First Dude's 62nd winner of 2020, proving to be a ton the best in a mile and one-sixteenth race over a sloppy track at Camarero Race Track in Puerto Rico. The 3-year-old filly bred by Mary K. Haire paid $5.40 as the third choice in a field of six.

With Anthony Rodriguez aboard, Dance Elvis Dance sat fourth early, made a monster move on the turn and swept into the lead in mid-stretch, drawing off to win by 6 1/2 widening lengths.
