Too Much Vino Was Too Much Filly in Woodbine Sprint

Leaving the gate in the ninth race at Woodbine yesterday, Too Much Vino looked like she had had too much to drink and was off eighth and last heading down the backstretch. But rider Emma-Jayne Wilson never panicked, and on the turn of the race at five furlongs over the all-weather track, she rolled the 3-year-old First Dude filly up on the inside, split horses in mid-stretch and went on to score by half a length, clocked in :58.42.

Too Much Vino, who was bred by Flying Finish Farm, had been claimed for $12,500 by James Fleming out of her fifth start at Gulfstream Park on Dec. 7 and this was her third try in her new barn and first at Woodbine. For her new owner, after a second in December, she’s 2-for-2 this year with earnings of $25,341. All told she’s 2-4-0 in eight starts with a bank account of $43,141.
