Sam Marin has Sweet Nola on a roll at Tampa Bay Downs, and the daughter of First Dude has reached new heights at the age of five. She’s won her last three in a row, while recording the three best Equibase ‘E’ speed figures of her 26-race career.
Sweet Nola scored by 4 1/4 lengths to begin her streak, getting an ‘E’ figure of 86, then won by 3 1/4 with an ‘E’ of 83, and capped it with a 2 1/2-length score in her latest with a career-best 93 ‘E‘. In that one, a $50,000 allowance optional claimer at one mile and 40 yards, she sat about eight lengths off the pace down the backstretch, came wide into the lane, and put away 2-1 shot Angela’s Party Girl to win going away for owner/trainer Juan Arriagada in 1:41.71. She paid $5.40 and earned a check for $33,850, bumping her career total to $122,104 on a record of 6-5-7 in her 26 tries.
