First Dude Gelding is Most Happy at Presque Isle

Happyisashappydoes has won five times in his 19-race career and four of the victories have come at Presque Isle Downs. The 5-year-old First Dude gelding broke his maiden at the Pennsylvania track in 2023, added two in a row there last June, and made it four with a wire-to-wire score this week in a $24,000 starter optional claimer at one mile on the all-weather track in his return from Tampa Bay Downs.

Antonio Gallardo was in the irons on the gelding bred by Eddy & Linda Martinez, and they passed the poles in :23.85, :46.82, and 1:11.11, before coasting to the wire nearly six lengths in front in a final time of 1:36.63. He paid $3.80 as favorite and collected a check for $14,400, boosting his career bank account to $178,320, and making him a good candidate for inclusion in the First Dude $200,000 club in the near future.

First Dude also had a recent winner at Caymanas in Jamaica, the 7-year-old mare Little Grovy Thing scoring in a race at five furlongs.
