Impacto continued his superb perfect in-the-money season this week, getting his fifth victory to go along with one second and two thirds in eight 2025 starts.
Willie Martinez was aboard the 6-year-old First Dude gelding in a $24,000 starter optional claimer at six furlongs over the all-weather track at Presque Isle Downs. In a field of five, Impacto was off last and trailed by six lengths early down the backstretch. Martinez sent him after the leaders on the turn and from there on it was no contest with the $14,000 OBS October RNA drawing off late to score by 2 1/4 lengths. He was clocked in 1:09.24, paid $5.20 and earned a check of $14,400 for owner/trainer Juan Arriagada.
Impacto’s lifetime bank account now stands at $228,711 on a career record of 11-3-4 in 24 starts, and he jumped up three spots into 27th place on First Dude’s $200,000 list.
