Long Legged Boy Jogs at Parx; First Dude on Pace to Eclipse Last Year

When First Dude finished fourth on Florida’s leading sire list last year, he did it with 54 winners and progeny earnings of $2,356,491. The son of Stephen Got Even is on pace to easily surpass both those numbers this year.

Long Legged Boy won the sixth race at Parx yesterday and became winner No. 27 for First Dude, and the winning check of $13,200 raised the stallion’s 2023 bank account to $1,224,992, both numbers without help thus far of this season’s 2-year-olds.

Long Legged Boy took the lead soon after the break from the rail in the one-mile race, and rider Dexter Haddock lulled the rest of the field to sleep with snail-like fractions. The 3-year-old colt opened up four lengths heading into the stretch and won it by 3 1/4 in a time of 1:44.98.

Bred in Maryland by Maria Haire, the $20,000 OBS June purchase is 2-2-2 in 10 starts with earnings of $46,480, and he’ll continue his career in a new barn after being claimed out of the race.
