Usually, when a horse comes into a race off a four-length score after two seconds, all at the same track, it receives strong support at the windows. That wasn’t the case with Channah Del Mar, the 4-year-old Indiana-bred daughter of First Dude who made it two straight at Horseshow Indianapolis, this one at surprising odds of 21-1.
Joe Ramos was aboard the $12,000 OBS June 2-year-old bred by Casey Seaman in a $40,000 allowance test at 1 1/16 miles on the grass. She raced off the pace early, but finished well and won by three lengths, clocked in 1:42.51. This time the payoff was $44.40, and she earned a check for $24,000, raising her lifetime total to $128,180 on a record of 3-5-4 in 19 starts, with $65,230 coming this year. She received an Equibase ‘E’ speed figure of 80, best of her career.
