First Dude 5-Year-Old Breezes Past Century Mark at Woodbine

This Dude a Breeze cruised past the $100,000 mark in progeny earnings after cruising past a field of seven in a $41,700 starter optional claimer over the all-weather track at Woodbine.
The 5-yar-old First Dude gelding had Rafael Hernandez in the saddle, and they broke alertly, finally settling on the inside, about four lengths off the pace. After being content to shadow the leaders, Hernandez sent This Dude a Breeze up on the outside on the turn and the gelding surged into the lead in mid-stretch, then went on to score by a length in 1:45.55 for the mile and one-sixteenth.
The gelding bred by long-time Canadian breeder Bruno Schickedanz paid $7.60 and earned a check for $17,220 Canadian ($12,305 U. S.), bringing his total to $111,710 on a record of 6-3-4 in 22 starts. He’s won two of his last three.
