It was a long time between winner’s circle visits for Main Dude – three years and 30 races, to be exact. The 6-year-old First Dude gelding bred in Louisiana by Chris and Lynne Boutte hadn’t won since July 11 of 2023 at Louisiana Downs, but the streak ended at Assiniboia Downs.

Coming off two fourths and a third, Sheldon Chickeness was aboard Main Dude in a race at 5 1/2 furlongs and was sent off at odds 3-1. He tracked the leader in second place from the outset, then sprinted into the lead in the stretch and drew out to win by two lengths, clocked in 1:07.64. He paid $8.90 and took home a check for $4,310 in U. S. dollars, lifting his career bank account to $45,281 on a record of 3-4-4 in 40 starts.
