Taino House, the 9-year-old gelding who has been competing out west for peanuts for years, made it two victories in a row at Emerald Downs – this time for cashews – in a six furlong test with Kevin Krigger in the saddle.
The son of Bahamian Squall bred by Don Dizney went wire-to-wire over a muddy surface, putting up fractions of :22.23, :45.16 and :57.36 en route to a three-quarter length score in a solid 1:10.40. He paid $5.56 while collecting another miniscule check for $5,130, which finally jumped his earnings over the $100,000 mark at $102,965.
Taino House now sports an enviable record of 12-4-8 in 54 starts.
