Coming off a second-place finish at Woodbine, This Dude a Breeze lived up to his name in a 1 1/16ths-mile test over the all-weather track for long-time owner and breeder Bruno Schickedanz.

With Fraser Aebly in the irons, the 6-year-old gelded son of First Dude, at odds of 7/5, sat a comfortable trip along the inside down the backstretch, swung out into the four path heading home, then sprinted away to score by 3 lengths as announcer Robert Geller bellowed, “It’s This Dude a Breeze in a breeze.”

This Dude a Breeze was clocked in 1:45.01 and paid $4.80, while increasing his career earnings to $128,847 on a record of 7-4-4 in 27 starts. Claimed out of the race, he’ll make his next start in a new barn.
