Age No Problem for Fivefive Six Champ

At the tender old age of seven, Fivefive Six Champ shows no signs that he’s running out of gas; he’s moved up to 18th place on First Dude’s $200,000 list, and has scored his 16th career victory, tied for second among all the stallion’s runners.

The gelding bred by red-hot owner/breeder Tom MCrocklin raised his imposing record to 16-7-4 in 49 starts with his latest victory, in a $22,000 allowance optional claiming test at Mountaineer Park. With Brandon Whitacre aboard in the race at six furlongs, the $165,000 OBS March 2-year-old battled head-and-head for the early lead, then left his rivals behind. opened up by six lengths in the stretch and widened it to eight as he crossed the finish line.

Fivefive Six Champ was clocked in 1:12.70, paid $3.20, and earned a check for $12,760, ballooning his career total to $308,459, with $50,663 coming since January 1. He’s posted a record of 3-1-0 in his last five tries.
