After breaking her maiden in her career debut at Gulfstream Park in December of 2023, Baha Secret spent the next two years searching for victory number two, in vain. The 6-year-old mare by Bahamian Squall raced just five more times in 2024 and 2025 before taking a 5 1/2-month vacation.
Returning this season at Tampa Bay Downs, she put together a pair of thirds, then ended the streak with an eye-catching performance under Kleiner Mejias. Off slowly in the 7-furlong test, Baha Secret had just one horse beaten as the field headed down the backstretch. Then Mejias sent her on an overland journey and she inhaled the pack and took over the lead approaching the top of the stretch. But she was so wide that Baha Secret lost several lengths and 3-1 shot Vesper Chicks shot through on the rail and assumed the lead by two lengths.
Baha Secret was far from finished though, and she dug in and cruised back into the lead, then drew off to score by nearly two lengths. She was clocked in 1:24.34, paid $7.20 and collected a check for $12,260.
