Bahamian Squall has had just 13 runners compete so far this season, but they have produced six winners, for an excellent 46 percent. No. 6 is Raydar Control, who went wire-to-wire under veteran Jose Ferrer racing six furlongs at Tampa Bay Downs.
The 4-year-old gelding bred by D. Michelle Landry shot to the lead out of the gate and continued on in front through swift fractions of :22.70 and :45.89. In the stretch, Raydar Control put it in another gear and drew off to score by 4 1/2 lengths, clocked in 1:11.60. He paid $3.80 and the $14,585 winner’s check raised his career bank account to $32,438 on a record of 2-1-0 in six starts, all of them in Oldsmar.
