Everything went right for Berks and owner/breeder Jagger Inc. at Delaware Park when their race scheduled for the turf was switched to a mile and 70 yards on the main track. No less than seven scratches resulted in a field of three going to the post, and Berks, already a three-time winner in 2025, was sent off at odds of 3/10.
With leading rider Paco Lopez aboard, the 6-year-old Maryland-bred gelding by First Dude went head-and-head for the lead early, took over after three-quarters of a mile, then cruised to the wire nearly eight lengths in front, clocked in 1:42.55.
Berks paid $2.60, and Jagger’s check of $17,250 raised the gelding’s lifetime total to $410,570 on a record of 15-1-2 in 35 starts. He moved up three spots into eighth place on his sire’s $200,000 list.
